Great steps for Service Support Mechanism in Karnali !

Sustainable WASH for All (SUSWA) wishes to produce hand wash liquid in the bottles with related messages ! Can anyone share or link us with the producers in Nepal ?

A visit between 5-7 to Naumule and Bhagawatimai rural municipality of Dailekh has remained immensely fruitful to kick off Masons training at Naumule, a short review & reflection with both the WASH units, field monitoring to see how water supply, sanitation and hygiene is progressing, a reflective sharing with CAO from Bhagwatimai and showcasing of portable, affordable, user friendly and water efficient sanitation products. SUSWA is notably giving due consideration to ensure the increased participation of women for all sort of leadership including building the toilets through enhanced skills. Out of 12 masons 6 are the women masons participating for the masons training. The short review cum reflection and looking for the further paths for total sanitation was so helpful for the WASH units to plan for the HHs to comply with the total sanitation indicators. The sharing with the CAO and deputy chairperson reflects how SUSWA is working in hand in hand with the local governments for improved WASH services. I could see immense interest among the people for disabled friendly and user friendly Comode, hand washing station and I-traps. I am really impressed with both the WASH units for organizing and managing list of activities in a structured and efficient manner.

This December remained so effective as we were able to effectively conduct 3 days training on Total Sanitation to the WASH unit staff from all 21 local governments from where SUSWA has been implementing with the lead of the respective local governments. The team members including the WASH advisors from SUSWA, SUSWA fleet team, admin and logistic team, Homnath Acharya, WASH coordinators deserve a big hands of thanks. During the training , the training has been focused to build up the understanding on sanitation, hygiene, total sanitation and associated indicators, the tools to attain the results, different technological options of toilets, sanitation marketing, BCC approaches and many more. I'd like to thank all the respective palikas and we expect the team will put lasting and most professional efforts to ensure the results as envisioned and plan.डिसेम्बर महिना निकै फलदायी रहयो ! सुस्वा आयोजना लागु भएका सबै २१ वटा स्थानीय तहहरुका वास इकाईका कर्मचारीहरुको लागि ३ दिने पूर्ण सरसफाइ सम्बन्धि तालीम सम्पन भएको छ | जाडो समयको बाबजुत उल्लेख्य उत्साह र प्रतिबद्दताका साथ् तालिमलाई प्रभावकारी रुपमा सम्पन्न गर्नको लागि योगदान गर्ने सुस्वा आयोजानाका वास सल्लाहकार साथीहरु, वास संयोजक, होमनाथ आचार्य सर, सुस्वा आयोजनाका फ्लीट लगायत सबै टिम र सबै पालिकाहरुलाई धेरै धेरै धन्यवाद ! तालिममा सरसफाइ, स्वच्छता तथा पूर्ण सरसफाइको बुझाइ, पूर्ण सरसफाइका सूचकहरु तथा सुचक हासिल गर्नको लागि आबश्यक पर्ने बिधि तथा औजार, व्यवहार परिवर्तन, विभिन्न प्राबिधिक विकल्पको बारेमा ज्ञान तथा सीप सम्प्रेषण भएको छ | तय भएको कार्य योजना अनुसारले कार्य क्षेत्रमा उच्च बयाबसायिक कुसलताका साथ् नतिजा हासिल हुने पक्षमा ध्यान जाने कुरामा पूर्ण विश्वास लागेको छ !!

The two days ToT on Total Sanitation has been completed successfully. The training was organized to capacitate WASH coordinators and WASH Advisors on the policy and legal instruments on total sanitation, reviewing ODF movement in Nepal, deep diving on total sanitation indicators, tools required to achieve the indicators of total sanitation indicators, sanitation marketing, BCC and targeting sanitation results for palikas. We are sure the skills imparted during the training will be helpful to expedited the total sanitation movement across the palikas in Karnali. SUSWA will be there to back up and facilitate the process.

The world water week 2023 has come to an end here at Stockholm, Sweden. It has been a great pleasure to be present and share the new thoughts and plan that SUSWA together with iDE and local governments have initiated to ensure the increased and improved access to sanitation in the rural mountainous Karnali province in Nepal. As Karnali province of Nepal offers the challenges due to its harsh-topography and lack of and not having operational road access, there is need to have the mechanism that works to ensure the sustainable delivery of the sanitation products and services at the affordable costs. SUSWA together with iDE Nepal and local governments have come up with the market based solutions that are available at the national and international markets and with the improvement of the options including but not limited to the slabs, tiling and improving the dimensions of the toilets so that the communities like and prefer to use the toilet facilities in a sustainable manner. It has been really a great opportunity to be present at Stockholm to meet and share with the renowned WASH laureates from more than 150 countries with their 300+ sessions online and in person.What a week that helped us to open up the minds to think beyond the personal and national thoughts to harness the most innovative ideas and solutions for making our world a water-wise world.SUSWA
