Someone broke into our 09 corolla without breaking any glass. The thieves also did break into our neighbors 10 Prius same way, and another neighbors 11 Kia optima and 08/09 chevy hhr. Out of all our vehicles they took the garage openers. My garage door was up about a foot. Nothing missing out of the garage. Same with the neighbors only other valuable that was taken was a pair of women's sunglasses.

What do you think ?

Someone was doing that in my neighborhood a few years ago. They would break into the cars to steal the garage door openers. That way they could clean your house out while you sleep (or were out). I would change the signal for the garage door if I was you.

agreed. and if your garage is attached make sure and lock the door that connect the two. thats why they took the opener.

Doesnt sound like your dealing with amatures. I would just take all my good stuff out of the house and visit local goodwill for some junk to replace it with. Then up my homeowners insurance a few tens of thousands to cover all that top shelf stuff you got in there:evil:

I dont know any rookie crook that can break into 4 cars in the same neighborhood undetected without setting off one alarm or breaking one glass do you?

Don't know about that, but its pretty dumb to hit 4 cars like that all at once. One missing garage opener might be dismissed as simply lost, but 4? Its not like the neighbors and police won't talk to each other. Then its obvious what is going on...

All affected cars/ owners live in a so to say couldesac. Three cars had the belongings in the car moved to another location within the same car. The Prius and my corolla had the glove boxes ransacked and dumped on the floor. I'm 100% sure I locked mine. My neighbor with the prius had movie tickets in the car and they were not taken. I'm just wondering how they got into the cars without breaking any glass or setting off the alarm. I know mine is stock and pretty loud.

I am also having my alarm company wire my garage door. And asking someone at sears how to redo my code on the remotes

usually when multiple cars get hit on the same block, it's teens.
But, the fact that they got in w/o any evidence of entry...

Put a C clamp on the garage door track. It won't go up until you take it off. You can also disconnect the opener up top by pulling a pin. That way if they do use the opener, it won't work. Or just unplug it...

Another thing to check is if any of your paperwork is gone from your glove box. I heard of people doing this type of break in and it ends up being an identity theft.
I leave one of my range silhouette targets taped to the door that goes from the garage to the house. Just so if someone does break in to the garage they will have an idea on what could happen if I'm home.

well what ever you decide to do, I'd say you have alittle time to do it. Last time I heard of something like this before where I live, the crooks did return to complete the job but they let about 3 weeks go buy so affected people would forget the initial break in. I can almost guarantee they will be back.

2 words: deer cams, multiple ones chained and locked to multiple places, high off the ground, behind stuff, wrapped in barbed wire, anything to keep them from trying to smash it when it goes off, because they will.

This is a great idea Jeremy"thumbsup"
We have one of those window security locks on the garage door rail,

kinda pain to get it on & off though, benz the rail has a curve to it. I like your idea better though

two years ago a bunch of kids were taking the cars that were outside warming up in the winter, then joy riding in them, after they took all the valubales in the car of course. they caught them the next week later when the same bunch were walking down the street @ 4 in the morning, paintballing everyones house. they got 3 houses from ours until they got caught:roll:
